1. Function

Ball Screw: A ball screw is a type of linear actuator that converts rotary motion into linear motion. It is used in applications requiring precise positioning, such as CNC machines, robotics, and automated systems.

Ball Bearing: A ball bearing is a type of bearing that supports rotating shafts and reduces friction between moving parts. It allows for smooth rotation and movement of components like wheels, motors, and other machinery.

2. Design

Ball Screw: Comprises a screw shaft with a helical groove and a nut containing ball bearings that roll within the groove. As the screw rotates, the balls recirculate, allowing the nut to move along the screw.

Ball Bearing: Consists of an inner and outer ring, with balls placed between them. The balls roll in raceways, allowing one ring to rotate relative to the other with minimal friction.

3. Applications

Ball Screw: Typically used in applications that require high precision and load capacity in linear motion, such as in machine tools, linear actuators, and automated equipment.

Ball Bearing: Found in a wide range of rotating machinery, from bicycles and vehicles to electric motors and industrial equipment.

4. Load Handling

Ball Screw: Can handle both axial and radial loads, but is primarily designed for axial loads due to its linear motion function.

Ball Bearing: Can handle both radial and axial loads, with different types designed specifically for each load type.

Ball Bearing: Allows rotational motion.
