How to prolong the life and stability of ball screws and nuts

In order to extend the life and stability of ball screws and nuts, the following aspects can be taken into consideration:

1. Reasonable lubrication
Choose appropriate lubricant:
Use bearing oil or grease containing lubricant to ensure that the lubricant can be filled on the steel ball and the ball groove, and it is better to directly oil the nut.
The selection of lubricant should take into account the working conditions of the ball screw and nut, such as temperature, speed, load, etc.
Regular lubrication:
Add an appropriate amount of lubricant to the ball screw and nut regularly to maintain its good lubrication state.
Check the quality and quantity of lubricants regularly, and replace or replenish them in time.

2. Correct installation and adjustment
Precise installation:
Ensure the installation accuracy of ball screws and nuts to avoid collisions and scratches during installation.
Use special installation tools and methods to ensure that the clearance between the outer diameter of the screw shaft end and the nut is moderate.
Preload adjustment:
According to the application scenario and load conditions, reasonably adjust the preload force of the ball screw.
The adjustment of the preload force should ensure that there is no gap between the screw and the nut, while avoiding abnormal wear caused by overtightening.

3. Strengthen maintenance
Regular cleaning:
Regularly clean the dirt and impurities on the surface of the ball screw and nut to keep them clean.
Use special cleaning agents and tools to avoid damage to the ball screw and nut.
Inspection and maintenance:
Regularly check the wear of the ball screw and nut to find and deal with potential problems in time.
Replace severely worn parts to ensure stable operation of the system.

4. Avoid overload use
Strictly control the load:
The design of the ball screw and nut has its rated load limit and should be used strictly in accordance with regulations.
Avoid long-term overload operation to avoid excessive pressure on the ball screw and nut and accelerate its wear process.
Optimize working conditions:
Try to avoid the ball screw and nut working under harsh conditions such as high temperature, high humidity, and corrosive environment.
Optimize the working conditions of the ball screw and nut by improving the design or adding protective measures.

5. Choose a suitable support method
One end is fixed and the other end is free:
It is suitable for specific occasions such as short stroke and vertical transmission. The structure is simple but the axial stiffness is low.
Support at both ends:
Improve the axial rigidity and critical speed of the screw, suitable for occasions with high requirements for speed, rigidity and precision.
Carefully select and configure bearings, such as using angular contact bearings at one end and deep groove ball bearings at the other end to further improve the rigidity of the support end.
