What are the advantages of ball screws in high-speed machining of CNC machine tools?

Ball screws have shown significant advantages in high-speed machining of CNC machine tools, which are mainly reflected in the following aspects:
1. High transmission efficiency
Ball screws transmit motion through rolling contact between balls and screws. Compared with traditional sliding contact methods, this method can greatly reduce friction resistance, thereby significantly improving transmission efficiency. In the high-speed machining environment of CNC machine tools, efficient power transmission mechanisms can enable machine tools to complete machining tasks more quickly, thereby comprehensively improving overall machining efficiency. Specifically, the transmission efficiency of ball screws is usually two to four times that of ordinary screws.
2. High machining accuracy
In high-speed machining, accuracy is a key indicator for measuring machining quality. Traditional sliding screws are prone to thermal expansion due to their large friction resistance, which causes fluctuations in machining accuracy. On the contrary, ball screws can significantly suppress thermal expansion and maintain a more stable working state with their extremely small friction. This feature enables CNC machine tools to maintain high-precision processing levels for a long time during high-speed processing, effectively avoiding the common processing error problems of traditional screws. At the same time, ball screws can achieve more precise motion control, successfully avoiding the "backlash" problem commonly found in traditional threaded screws, thereby further improving processing accuracy and position repeatability.

3. Strong load-bearing capacity and long service life
The balls of the ball screw are in contact with the threaded surface of the screw to evenly distribute the load, reduce the risk of local overload, and thus improve the load-bearing capacity. In addition, the surface contact area of the ball screw is large, and the wear during operation is small, so the service life is greatly extended. For CNC machine tools with high-speed processing, long-term and high-intensity work is the norm, so the high load-bearing capacity and long life of the ball screw can effectively reduce the failure rate of the machine tool and reduce maintenance costs.
